STORY: [Crestfallen Violet: Episode 1]

[Crestfallen Violet: Episode 1]

Push! Push! Push!, hollowed the doctor as Nnenna stretches harder in pursuit to force the offspring out.The walls of the uterus inflating and defalting ,while its adjacents contracting and relaxing. The nurses running helter skelter, oscilating in a random motion. The event horrendously emerged into fear.
Ositadimma on his own,at the reception office translating from one point to another, merging vertical and horrizontal movement simultaneously.Without being told, his movement and reactions at the hospital is a good example that Osita cheriched his wife so much.
Even at home,he pampers her as though she were as fragile as an egg dropped on the table,to avoid cracking.Ositadimma is a die hard christian who never believed in the existence of fetish beings. Its obvious that even before going for work,Osita would visit the church and say a little prayer before he moves on.This family usual way of worship was cemented after he got married to his wife.
It is quite unbelieveable and fascinating for someone like Nnenna, having gone through labour trice without any positive outcome. At first, the doctor proved that the baby was not yet ready for delivery, second, that the baby is in abnormal position. Her womb wobbling as if they were in a battle war fare.

"Nurse, rush to the reception room and tell the receptionist to evacuate the patients back to their various wards".
That was the only statement that came out from the doctor's mouth because, his prediction showed that things had eluded his strength.
Doctor Okezie is a popular medical doctor with good reputations. He had practised the profession for several good years successfully. He was believed to sometimes help the helpless by charging the poor at a virtually low cost. His love for old men and women made it possible for them to receive treatments without paying a penny.
This epoch continued until on an occassion, after treating an old ill-woman from a wretched family, that feeds on the dust of the dusk, her son instead of showing appreciation, enunciated that the doctor is a quack doctor. He also intrigued people to stop visiting the doctor's hospital expostulating that he uses fake injections on patients on the pretext of being a polite professional doctor.
The comment was rather lambasting to the extent that it pervaded throughout every nook and cranny of the community and intermitently came to an end when the doctor became mad at the woman's son. That was how the doctor's candid actions towards the old and the incapacitated came to an abrupt end. However, none of these hindered the doctor from being kind to Ositadimma and his wife.
Ositadimma is gradually losing his patience. Each nurse that runs into Ositadimma through the veranda, must be stopped,on the insistence of knowing his wife's condition. He had never witnessed a woman in such a labour before.Ironically, other women enters and exit in few minutes, but that is quite different on the path of his wife.
Shortly after he had engaged a nurse in a brief discussion enquiring about his wife's condition, the doctor came out from the theatre panting like someone who had fallen down from an iroko tree, his whole body covered with what could be described probably as an ocean of sweat, like someone who had just finished swimming, his breathe rumbling intermitently. All of a sudden, there was a mild moment of equamimity.
Ositadimma's concern has nothing to care about the sudden change of the doctor's mood, but precisely to hear that his wife had delivered.
"Doctor, how is my wife in the name of God?",he spluttered with his heart jangling as if two lister generators were sounding in dis-unison,heralding that the doctor might give a negative response.
"You are very lucky sir, your wife had successfully stepped down",he replied, imagining how plumpy and affectionate the child could be since the mother had a superior gene over that of her husband.
"Do-do-doctor,you are speaking in riddles",Osita quizzicalled.
"I mean, she delivered a bouncing baby girl",replied the doctor rumbustiously.
Osita could stand that fact that he is now a father. He thought it was a mere dream so that he could beg someone to help him not to wake up.He cleared his throat, used his handkerchief and cleaned his face very well, just to make sure.Well, his vision is still rather binnocular. He was dumb-founded.
The doctor who felt amazed asked Osita about his not showing much happiness about his wife's succesful delivery, not knowing that the young man is dying intensely in joy.
"Doctor, please, look into my eyes and tell me this is not a dream. The bumbling of the building makes me dizzy and nausea,Osita mumbled.
He pleaded with the doctor to allow him access into the theatre for him to confirm with his eyes that it was not a dream. He was granted access. He entered and met his wife and the cute looking kid recumbenting on the bed.
Over-joyed,he decided to rush to Azubuike's house, his brother to get him informed of the good news after a chequered quest for free delivery of his wife.He left the hospital running like a mad man, with a bank of dusk rising up in their wakes as he disturbs their serenity with his barely over-sized slippers,as he runs to deliver the message to Azubuike and his family.
