Blood Spill As Abagan And Ukpo Battle Over Land Dispute
At least,200,including prominent had been arrested,over land dispute between Abagana and Ukpo towns,both of Njikoka and Dunukofia Local Government Areas respectively.It was around 1:00 am in the early hours of morning,when inhabitants started hearing heavy frightening sounds of gunshots.This lasted for over 3 hours as the sounds of gunshots started dying off around 5am in the morning.Meanwhile,around 3am,as the razing sounds kept increasing,people living close to the bullet sounds started running for their dear lives,deserting their homes to far away places.
Later that morning,it was gathered that some strange men,who were allegedly sent by unidentified men from Abagana,had encroached on the police station,which was built by Ukpo community,at the disputed boundary that demarcates Abagana from Ukpo.It was discovered that the unidentified hoodlums,had face to face shoot out with the policemen who were staged on duty for that night at that station,which resulted in the death of one officer.Reports says the rest of the police were disarmed and they had to run for their dear lives after they had pleaded with the hoodlums to spare their lives.
It was also gathered that the invaders burnt down two police vehicles,destroyed five buildings,including the new police station,which is yet to be launched.
After the bizzaring incident,which led to blood shed,the streets of Abagana and Ukpo had been lonely,as deserted areas as police kept arresting whoever,especially males that they see on the roads.Over 200 had been arrested as at the point of writing this article,which resulted in the arrest of prominent men from Abagana.It was gathered that this was inline with directives from Prince Arthur Eze,the multi-billionaire,who is from Ukpo.
The arrested suspects were arraigned in State C.I.D Awka division.Meanwhile,reacting to the distrous invasion,the state commisioner of police had vowed to deal with everyone involved in the scandals and had regarded the invasion as insurgency and terrorism,noting that any act of taking the laws into one's hands is subject to and punisheable to law,under Nigerian constitution.
